I wish I had a really amazing story as to how my blog got started. And really, my blog is still a baby but I’ll get more into that in a bit! It all started a couple of years ago when I got into a writing / reading funk while I was in x-ray school. Then after I started to work after graduation, I was slowly getting back into my reading groove. But then I moved jobs so that I could become full time and I was really depressed being away from my friends in a new place and getting used to everything. I had lost touch with my creative side and I wasn’t writing anymore. Then one day on Instagram, I noticed some book photos and soon discovered bookstagram.
And then I really fell in love with seeing how big the book community is and how nice everyone was. I was down at Disney World when I decided I was going to give it a try. To this day I’m still working on it and I don’t feel as successful as I could be. I was still determined though and I wanted to start a blog so I could post more reviews than just on Goodreads. I was getting into the groove of posting nearly every day on bookstagram and getting my blog going when the day come that I got some news that I needed to become more certified at work. So then reading, blogging and bookstagram got pushed to the side up until recently. It took a lot of time and I finally passed but now I’m basically starting over. It’s a lot more difficult while working full time but I’m trying!
So advice…I’m not entirely sure what all to say that hasn’t been said before from other blogs, especially since I could use all the advice I can get since I’m still very new to blogging. I’ll list a couple of things that I have picked up though.
- Interact: The best way to connect with people is to interact with them! Comment, follow, tags. It all helps!
- Go for it: It’s better to try than to wonder “what if.” Because we all know that’s awful. And I’m going to quote Letter’s to Juliet on this.
“What” and “If” are two words as non-threatening as words can be. But put them together side-by-side and they have the power to haunt you for the rest of your life.”
Okay, yes, it’s a tad dramatic in that form. However, you never know what you can accomplish unless you try. Like I said above, I don’t feel as successful as I could be since there’s so much that I want to do, but you just have to try. Send the request, make the blog, take the photos. It’s the little victories that help push you forward.
I’m tagging a few blogs that I would love for you guys to go check out!! ALSO – please recommend a few more blogs that you all love that I can go give a follow 🙂

You’re so welcome!! I wasn’t sure if it tagged you or not. I may have to go back and fix all that haha

All you do is link it to a page, and it tags me. Most people link to my About page, but you can link to any page! I didn’t know how to tag at first and it took me a bunch of tutorials to figure it out, lmao! 😂🤣

I’ll have to work on that later haha. I feel like such a dud when it comes to this. No clue what I’m doing or how to do certain things as a perk to blogging, if you know what I mean haha

I know EXACTLY what you mean! I made my blog from an iPad! So it was a process. And a lot of googling and questions and bugging other bloggers for help. I still don’t know how to make an index of my reviews so you’re not alone!

I started mine so long ago then stopped doing book related stuff for a while because of some stuff I had to do for work, so everything I learned how to do then, I can’t remember now 😬 we can learn together!!

It has been a while since you posted this, but I see I was tagged! Thanks! I’ll have to do this soon.
I’m so glad that you’ve started a blog and your advice is wonderful. Communication is key to almost anything, and that includes blogging. It’s something I need to work on a bit more. (As you can see by my late comment.)
