Tag: RIP It or SHIP It

My close friend Rachel and I were talking about a YouTube we both recently saw by PeruseProject and it was the “RIP it or SHIP it” tag.  I really enjoyed watching what pairings she ended up with and I wanted to do my own. There was one during her video that I particularly LOVED the idea of so I’ll put that particular “ship” as a bonus after my own drawings.

Here’s how you can play this game:

  1. Write down characters from books on slips of paper
  2. Put them in a jar/bowl/hat/mug and pick 2
  3. Decide if you ship it or R.I.P. it (R.I.P. it means you don’t ship them, but not necessarily that you want them dead)

For mine, I picked a couple of books that I could get some “good” and “bad” characters to see what kind of ships I could come up with. The books I used are: A Court of Thorns and Roses, Six of Crows, Game of Thrones, Stalking Jack the Ripper, The Remnant Chronicles, Roar and The Infernal Devices. Now, click below to read the fun! (Also, some of the names are smaller than I anticipated but I felt like it was too late to redo everything. Hopefully it doesn’t look too bad on your devices!)

Round One

√ SHIP IT. Okay, so Nina from Six of Crows and Robb from Game of Thrones. I dig it. She’s had a really rough life and loves having the more luxurious yet simpler things in life. The girl loves some waffles! Then Robb, King of the North, could provide a safe place for her and make sure she is happy and has everything she could want. Plus Nina seems to have a thing for men who live in cold climates. I think they could be really happy in Winterfell, raising direwolves and making waffles.

Round One (1)

X RIP IT. I just…how did this even happen? Alright, so Will Herondale from The Infernal Devices and Nathaniel Wadsworth from Stalking Jack the Ripper. So I don’t want to give spoilers away but Nathaniel is the brother to miss Audrey Rose (the main character) and he’s not necessarily the best person in the world. But maybe Will could knock some sense into him. But even on a “bromance” level…this would never work. They have completely different mindsets and personalities.

Round One (2)

X RIP IT. Another round of…WHY. We have Amarantha from A Court of Thorns and Roses and Audrey Rose from Stalking Jack the Ripper. These two wouldn’t even be friends, in fact, they’d probably be enemies! I can see it now, Audrey Rose would say she’s improper and evil. Amarantha wouldn’t care and would probably order someone to do something bad to Audrey Rose and I just can’t even imagine any of that. Just. NO.

Round One (3)

√ SHIP IT. Ah, much better. Lia from The Remnant Chronicles (Kiss of Deception) and Cassian from A Court of Mist and Fury. I really like this pairing. Lia is a strong woman who knows what she wants and won’t let anyone tell her what to do. Cassian loves to protect those he loves and he’s used to working with others. I could see the two of them doing great things together, however, I’d need them to change Lia to a High Fae so that they could be together forever. Just saying. But honestly, I think he would adore Lia and show her the world. I adore this.

Round One (4)

√ SHIP IT (as friends). This one doesn’t seem fair since they’re both from Stalking Jack the Ripper. However….I think they’re better off as friends. And honestly, I just want Thomas Cresswell all to myself, so there’s that too. They’d be snarky to each other and I’d love it!

Round One (6)

X RIP IT. Okay, here’s another horrible pairing. Ramsey from Game of Thrones and Tessa from The Infernal Devices. Tessa is such a great, kind hearted character who loves the people she’s closest to. Ramsey is a horrible person. He flays people….so he has no reason to be near the amazing Tessa. Plus she has a whole bunch of shadowhunters who would just come kick his butt, so that would be great to watch now that I think of it…

Round One (7)

√ SHIP IT. Kelsea Glynn from The Queen of the Tearling and Rhysand from A Court of Thorns and Roses. It’s not unknown that Rhysand is attracted to smart, independent (ish) women. Kelsea is exactly that. She is a queen and she knows what her people want / need. She has actually gone beyond what any other ruler has done for her people and so has Rhysand. They both know what it is like to sacrifice themselves for their court so I can see them being really happy together in a peaceful world. And I think Kelsea would be beyond ecstatic with Velaris and all the books it has to offer!.

Round One (8)

X RIP IT. Why did I pick these Game of Thrones characters….Joffrey is awful, we know that. He’s a crappy king and he’s a wimp, pretty much. Aurora from Roar is strong and willing to do what is needed for her kingdom, including going out into crazy storms to get power. I’d love to see her steal a storm fire heart and burn Joffrey to ashes with it. Okay, that was morbid, but she could kick his butt and it would be entertaining. There’s no way this would ever work unless he’s her enemy that she has to get rid of.

Round One (9)

√ SHIP IT.  We have Rafe from The Remnant Chronicles and Mor from A Court of Mist and Fury. Here are two very strong, independent characters. Rafe is a prince who will inherit a crown where he wants to make a difference in his kingdom. Mor was born a dreamer in the court of nightmares. Match made in heaven? Possibly!! There are some spoilers when it comes to Mor but I won’t disclose them here. I think they would make great friends, great allies and a potentially great ship. They’d support each other and it could lead to something fantastic!

Round One (10)

X RIP IT. Last but not least…Jon Snow from Game of Thrones and Ianthe from A Court of Thorns and Roses. I hate this so much, I just don’t even know where to start. Jon is strong, incredibly handsome, smart and knows better. Ianthe is a sneaky little worm and I think he would see through her facade super quick. Plus she’s so used to Spring Court that she’d probably freeze to death in Winterfell. I’m perfectly okay with that! She’s not a good person. Now that I think about it….she’s kind of like Melisandre on Game of Thrones. Hm….yeah, this is a no go.

Round One (12)

√ SHIP IT. Okay guys. This is the one that was on PeruseProject’s video that I couldn’t stop thinking about!! I mean….how perfect would that crossover be? If they both had to move on, I think it would be great. Tessa hasn’t aged in the 200 ish years she’s been alive BUT she’s able to have children. Rhysand is…well he’s old, but attractive and he hasn’t started a family yet (though who know what SJM has planned!). Tessa has helped take care of a place before and Velaris would be a perfect place for her. She’s a dreamer too.

Someone write me fanfiction of this…STAT. Or help me write it!

Okay guys! That was my first RIP IT or SHIP IT tag. Would you want to see more of this in the future? Or maybe with TV crossovers? Just let me know down below and tell me what you think of the pairings. Any of these you would want fanfiction of? Until next time!

  1. You have such good picks! I love it. Even though I don’t know all of these characters (yet), I loved reading your reasoning for shipping or not liking them. I’m so glad you decided to do this post. 😀

Ramsey doesn’t deserve any kind of love.

  2. Haha thanks!! I tried to pick some interesting ones and then when I picked certain ones (like Ramsey) I was like….okay made that was a bad decision along the line! But it was fun and I hope to do it again.

    …He really doesn’t. He’s awful.
