Here we are, at the final book in the Relic Trilogy by Bronwyn Eley and it’s so hard to believe that we’re at the end. This series has been one of forging new friendships and nurturing the ones already had, sailing adventures and one of self discovery. It’s dark in a way that has you thinking about more than meets the eye regardless of the situation and tells a beautiful story.
Right off the bat, we’re thrown into some action and it sets a quick pace for everything that is going to happen. As the pages fly by, Bronwyn really showcases the conflicts that Kaylan faces and how things are more shades of gray rather than just black and white, wrong versus right. And with those difficult decisions, you really feel like you’re in her mind – feeling her emotions and the loneliness that the Relics inflict.
Be prepared for plot twists! There were many times that had my jaw on the floor and plenty of moments that made my heart break. This was a great conclusion to the series and I highly recommend picking it up. And if you are reading this before having read the others, you definitely should get them! I wasn’t able to put this book down, only enough time to get some sleep, before I had to find out what would happen.
The ending took me completely by surprise and went in a direction that I never saw coming. Bronwyn’s debut series is a truly unique one that I think everyone who loves fantasy should read. The storyline is unique and the characters are ones that will stay with you forever.
