Soundtrack to the Pages | Serpent & Dove

Have you ever read a book and all of a sudden, you’re listening to the radio or (in my case) a playlist and felt like a song fit that book so perfectly well that it was stuck in your head? Well that certainly happened to me! So I wanted to try this little blog post idea for whenever this happens and I really hope that you guys like it!

This case in particular, I had just finished reading Serpent and Dove by Shelby Mahurin (amazing book, btw – full review here)  and this Breaking Benjamin song came on and it just fit.

Release day is today and I hope all of you will come back to this post and see if you agree as well! I’ll highlight the parts that really resonated with me.

I see nothing in your eyes,
And the more I see the less I like.

Is it over yet, in my head?

I know nothing of your kind,
And I won’t reveal your evil mind.

Is it over yet? I can’t win.

So sacrifice yourself, and let me have what’s left.
I know that I can find the fire in your eyes.
I’m going all the way, get away, please.

You take the breath right out of me.
You left a hole where my heart should be.
You got to fight just to make it through,
‘Cause I will be the death of you.

This will be all over soon.
Pour the salt into the open wound.

Is it over yet? Let me in.

So sacrifice yourself, and let me have what’s left.
I know that I can find the fire in your eyes.
I’m going all the way, get away, please.

You take the breath right out of me.
You left a hole where my heart should be.
You got to fight just to make it through,
‘Cause I will be the death of you.

I’m waiting, I’m praying, realize, start hating.

You take the breath right out of me.
You left a hole where my heart should be.
You got to fight just to make it through,
‘Cause I will be the death of you.

Synopsis

Bound as one, to love, honor, or burn. Book one of a stunning fantasy duology, this tale of witchcraft and forbidden love is perfect for fans of Kendare Blake and Sara Holland.

Two years ago, Louise le Blanc fled her coven and took shelter in the city of Cesarine, forsaking all magic and living off whatever she could steal. There, witches like Lou are hunted. They are feared. And they are burned.

As a huntsman of the Church, Reid Diggory has lived his life by one principle: Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live. But when Lou pulls a wicked stunt, the two are forced into an impossible situation—marriage.

Lou, unable to ignore her growing feelings, yet powerless to change what she is, must make a choice. And love makes fools of us all.

Set in a world of powerful women, dark magic, and off-the-charts romance, book one of this stunning fantasy duology will leave readers burning for more.
